Relationship Advice

Two pieces of advice I heard - about relationships - resonated with me. I heard these two things from some wacky old lady on Jay Leno called 'The Cooking Lady' or something. Strange place to pick up advice, but she said two things in response to a question about relationships...

1. Don't argue the little things.

2. Never go to bed angry.

These pearls of wisdom were followed by some nonsensical monologue about getting sex from your partner by keeping your pussy-hair tidy. But that aside, the two points seem quite appropriate.

#1 refers to little things which in the course of an entire relationship pale into insignificance. However at the time they seem big and if you focus on them they can draw doubt into the foundations of the relationship. This is something probably everyone in a relationship has experienced.

#2 refers to tidying up your issues before bed instead of letting them linger. If there are problems and anger then deal with it then, don't take the anger to bed with you or it will play on your mind. This is also applicable for phone conversations... never hang up the phone in anger when a discussion is only half finished. Prematurely ending important conversations with "whatever" (or equivalent) will never have a positive outcome. When in relationship discussion mode, never leave it without a resolution.
